Absynthesis (Levon Louis) (Quebec City)
Texas-born sound artist and producer Levon Louis is known for navigating the frontiers of electronic music and performance with nominations for "Best Electronica", "Best DJ", and "Keyboardist of the Year" in his hometown, plus live shows from coast-to-coast in the USA and original music appearing with icons like Aphex Twin, William Orbit, Nine Inch Nails, and Chemical Brothers.
He was featured in Newsweek Magazine for breakdancing at age 10. Later that year his father's new wave band, Z-Rocks, opened for Duran Duran on their stadium tour. Levon began making his own music using live intstruments, turntables, and C-64 computer and today releases music under two studio names, Mushroom Lounge and Absynthesis, representing different flavors of his music.
His early electronic band, Lunatex, frequently appeared in the Top-10 charts on early digital music giant
mp3.com and was a warehouse party sensation playing at over 100 dance events across the USA and releasing a full-length CD album, "Abducted", with national retail distribution in 2001.
In 2009 Levon worked directly with Brian LeBarton of Beck and Grammy-winning engineer Daryl Thorpe (Radiohead / Outkast) to produce original music for "Wet" resulting in a nomination for "Best Audio" by the Canadian Video Game Awards. Today Levon Louis produces and releases independent music from his own label, Mushroom Lounge Recordings.
